Multimedia acid-dub corporate Zion Train comprised singer Molara, DJ/bassist Neil Perch, trumpeter David Tench, melodica musician Colin Cod and trombonist Chris. For their following exploit, Zion Train teamed with Studio One vet Devon Russell to remaking his rage authoritative "Jah Holds the Key" -- the group's most successful phonograph criminal record to meshing; it garnered airplay throughout Europe and light-emitting diode to the release of their debut LP, the mellow nickname field day Passage to Indica.

Coincident with a series of remixes including tracks from the Shamen, Chumbawamba, Afro Celt Sound System, Junior Reid and Loop Guru, Zion Train issued with their following single, the acerb house-inspired "Take after Like Wolves." The acclaimed Natural Wonders of the World in Dub was side by side, debuting in the Top 20 of the U.K. indie charts; A series of limited edition EPs recorded in collaboration with Knights of the Occasional Table, Diatribe, Conscious and Trancemasters followed in 1994, and were later collected on the Siren LP. Singer/songwriter Jesse McCartney 'Leavin' ' teen-idol days behind

Kids plug up pop stars like bubble gum. Aging stripling idols looking at to branch out beyond performing at malls and amusement rosa Parks face a grim reality. Its the rare individual whos able-bodied to exceed a pimply, pop-tart past and conserve the affectionateness of his rapidly maturing fanbase.

Apparently, late boy ring heartthrob Jesse McCartney is that rare person.

The Ardsley, N.Y., native gambled and won with his purposefully titled new CD, Departure. Now hes on a tour with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks that comes to the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday night.

An doer and former member of pop grouping Dream Street, McCartney played it safe with a pair of straight-laced solo sets, Beautiful Soul in 2004 and Right Where You Want Me in 2006. But he longed to pour forth his seraphic blond locks in favour of a sharper image and sexier sound. The electronic pulse of the new CDs lead individual, Leavin, co-penned by Tricky and The-Dream, helped McCartney, now 21, make the leap. The song powered its way into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, while reaching No. 1 on both the Mainstream Top 40 and Hot Dance Club Play charts.

McCartney is ecstatic, though he maintained a nerveless attitude throughout a recent phone chat.

The whole point of making this album was to show melodious and personal growth, he aforementioned from a tour stop in Utah. I knew I wanted to go with a more rhythmical, programmed sound since my other discs were recorded with live instrumentation. I wanted it to be edgier.

Departure unquestionably isnt the smooth r & b that gets your mama warbling in the car. Instead, it bares a certain likeness to Justin Timberlakes FutureSex/LoveSounds, which defined the stream template for white urban bad boys.

But McCartney had to get the better of the scepticism of prospective collaborators such as Sean Garrett (Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown) and J.R. Rotem (Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Rihanna) that he was fit for the task ahead things got cooking.

There were some fights, he admitted. My biggest run-ins had to do with uncertainty over positioning myself for an older crowd. But sentence allows you to prove yourself, which is what I complete up doing. It took some finessing and a show of confidence, simply I got these people to believe in me.

No doubt McCartneys unexpected position as an up-and-coming songwriter helped him gain points. Not long ago, an off-the-cuff writing session with OneRepublics Ryan Tedder resulted in Bleeding Love, the international smash from Simon Cowell-backed jailbreak star Leona Lewis. McCartney says he knew a womans touch would make the sung soar, just he never imagined it would suit a No. 1 pt single.

Songwriting is a certification that commands respect, so I emphatically feel rejoicing about it, he said. Its a enormous validation and its already opened some doors for me. People are asking me to write for them now.

McCartney knows he dodged a tween-star-background slug capable of killing a career. But his determination is strong.

When youre selfsame successful at a young age, its hard for people to put that youthful belief of you aside, he aforesaid. I hate to well-grounded cliche, simply Im here to stick around. Ive got more to raise as both a vocaliser and a writer. (Departure) is about trying to get disembarrass of quondam perceptions and shifting the focus on to what I suffer to provide now, as an adult. So far, so good.

Jesse McCartney, with Jordin Sparks, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Tickets $39.50-$49.50; 978-454-2299.

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has launched a stinging attack on Oasis – claiming that his band are their successors.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Wilson said that Oasis had “disappeared up their own arse.”

“They think they’re Led Zeppelin. They’re not,” he said.

“Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor.”

Wilson’s comments come less than a week after Kaiser Chiefs’ huge homecoming show at Elland Road in Leeds.

The performance, the group’s biggest to date, featured guest appearances from Mark Ronson and Ryan Jarman of the Cribs.

Natascha Mcelhone - Mcelhone Opens Up About Heartbreak In Newspaper Article

LATEST: Actress NATASCHA MCELHONE has broken her silence about the death of her husband MARTIN KELLY - by writing a moving tribute to her late spouse in a British newspaper article.

Plastic surgeon Kelly died from fatal heart condition dilated cardiomyopathy, after he was found slumped on the doorstep of the couple's London home on Tuesday (20May08).

The tragic news came just a day after they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

The 38-year-old The Truman Show star, who is pregnant with their third child, had initially refused to comment on Kelly's passing - but has now opened her heart for The Mail on Sunday, in which she reveals how she is still struggling to come to terms with her devastating loss.

In the article, she says, "I just can't believe I won't feel his skin any more, how is that possible? I loved him and touched him every day, and thank goodness I did... I can't believe that magical, beautiful creature is not here any more. He was too good to be true.

"...He was the most unique father, as well. Always giving our beautiful 'pups' the alternate answer to any question, stimulating them, provoking them...

"I could write about him for the rest of my life. The part that saddens me most is that, whatever I can try to give my boys, their world for now has been halved, I cannot become him...

"I hope my sons will never be daunted by the legacy of his spirit but instead inspired to do exactly what it is they want to do. That was his philosophy, we read it somewhere once: 'Work hard, expect nothing, celebrate!'"

The actress has halted filming on hit U.S. show Californication to fly back to London from Los Angeles with the couple's two sons Theodore, eight, and Otis, five.

On Track: The politics of melancholy

The six viol players of Fretwork are not the sort to lock themselves in a Renaissance closet; in fact, they are not afraid to venture boldly into the crossover lane. The sextet turns up on the soundtrack to The Da Vinci Code and has even played alongside Robbie Williams. While there are few who are as adept as these musicians when it comes to pavans and galliards, they also search out the contemporary. In 1997, Fretwork's Sit Fast CD drew on commissioned pieces from the likes of Gavin Bryars, Tan Dun, Peter Sculthorpe and Elvis Costello.Their latest collection, Birds on Fire: Jewish Music for Viols, suggests that klezmer may well have had a discreet toe-hold in the court of Good Queen Bess. And, although the dances and fantasias by Thomas Lupo and Augustine Bassano reflect the music of John Dowland and others, perhaps these Jewish composers do have a charged melancholy all of their own.Lupo's works include some sumptuous six-part Fantasias and the Harmonia Mundi recording has invested their sonorous yet reedy sound with an almost Brahmsian richness.

Two tracks feature Jeremy Avis, a singer whose skills with vocal big band and live-looping have taken him around the Womad and jazz festival circuits. Avis brings out the kosher beauties of two Salamone Rossi Psalms from his 1622 The Songs of Solomon. The style might be what you would expect in a standard polyphonic setting, but I found myself constantly expecting Avis to break into a flurry of cantillation. Not surprisingly, there is political intent behind Birds on Fire, with two fascinating booklet essays revealing the discrimination that Jewish musicians suffered in 16th and 17th century England. Politics come even closer to our own times in the Orlando Gough work that provides the disc with its title. This English composer is best known for his innovative theatre work and he casts Fretwork as a group of Jewish musicians in an Austrian holiday resort in 1939.They slowly realise that the world is changing around them as spectral unisons morph into new and strange musical worlds, closing with the saddest of tangos.* Fretwork, Birds on Fire: Jewish Music for Viols (Harmonia Mundi HMU 907478, through Ode Records
